Abstract

This study examines global and national trends in the development of Sharia pension funds, which have experienced significant growth in recent years. Globally, Sharia pension funds attract both Muslim and non-Muslim investors due to their ethical principles and competitive investment performance. In Indonesia, growth is driven by increasing public awareness of Sharia-based financial planning and regulatory support from the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and DSN-MUI fatwas. Although Sharia pension fund assets remain smaller than conventional pension funds, the asset growth trend is steadily increasing. Key challenges include low Sharia financial literacy, limited product offerings, and the dominance of conventional pension funds. Nevertheless, large market potential and supportive policies offer promising opportunities for further development of Sharia pension funds.
