Author Guidelines
Thank you for considering BDJ Action: Breakthrough Development Journal in Advancing Communities Through Innovation & Outreach Network for your manuscript submission. To ensure that your manuscript is processed smoothly, please follow the guidelines below when preparing and submitting your work.
1. Scope and Focus
BDJ Action invites original research articles, case studies, reviews, and reports that focus on Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (Community Service) and community development initiatives. The journal publishes work that addresses real-world issues in community engagement, social innovation, sustainable development, education, health, economic empowerment, and environmental stewardship.
2. Types of Manuscripts
The following types of manuscripts are welcome:
- Original Research Articles: Detailed studies of community-driven development and service-oriented initiatives.
- Case Studies: In-depth analyses of specific community service programs or projects.
- Review Articles: Comprehensive reviews of existing literature, trends, or frameworks in community development and social impact.
- Reports: Documentation of community programs, evaluations, and best practices.
3. Manuscript Preparation
Manuscripts must be submitted in English and should be formatted according to the following guidelines:
- Length: Research articles should be between 4,000 and 7,000 words, including references. Case studies and reviews should not exceed 5,000 words.
- Formatting:
- Use Times New Roman, size 12 font, and 1.5 line spacing.
- Set margins to 1 inch (2.54 cm) on all sides.
- The manuscript should be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format.
- Include page numbers.
- Title Page: The title page should contain:
- Title of the manuscript (concise and descriptive).
- Full names of all authors, their affiliations, and contact information.
- Corresponding author details (name, email address, postal address).
- Abstract: Provide a structured abstract (200-300 words) summarizing the key points of the article, including the purpose, methodology, results, and conclusions.
- Keywords: After the abstract, list 3-5 keywords that reflect the content of the manuscript.
- Headings and Subheadings: Use clear and consistent headings and subheadings to organize your manuscript. Numbered headings (e.g., 1. Introduction, 2. Methodology, 3. Results) should be used.
- References: Use APA (7th edition) citation style for both in-text citations and the reference list. All references should be cited in the text and listed alphabetically at the end of the manuscript.
4. Figures and Tables
- Figures and tables should be numbered consecutively (e.g., Figure 1, Table 1) and placed within the text where they are first referenced.
- Each figure and table must have a clear and concise title.
- Use high-quality images and ensure that tables are clear and readable in black and white print.
- Permission for copyrighted material: If your manuscript includes any copyrighted images, tables, or figures, please ensure you have obtained the necessary permissions and provide proper attribution.
5. Ethical Considerations
- Plagiarism: Manuscripts must be free from plagiarism. The journal uses plagiarism detection tools to check submitted manuscripts.
- Ethical Approval: Research involving human participants or animals must include a statement regarding ethical approval from an institutional review board or ethics committee.
- Conflict of Interest: Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest (financial, personal, professional) that could affect the objectivity or integrity of the research.
- Informed Consent: If your research involves human participants, ensure that informed consent was obtained, and the study complies with ethical research standards.
6. Submission Process
- Online Submission: Manuscripts should be submitted via the journal’s online submission system. You will need to create an account to submit your manuscript and track its progress.
- Cover Letter: A cover letter is required, in which you should briefly introduce the manuscript, explain its significance, and state why it is a good fit for BDJ Action.
- Peer Review Process: All manuscripts will undergo a double-blind peer review process. Authors may be asked to revise and resubmit their manuscripts based on the feedback received from reviewers.
7. Revisions and Resubmission
- Authors may be asked to revise their manuscripts based on reviewer comments. Authors should make the required changes and submit a revised version of the manuscript with a response letter that addresses each reviewer comment.
- Resubmissions should be returned within 30 days of receiving reviewer feedback. If additional time is needed, please contact the editor.
8. Publication Fee
- Open Access: BDJ Action is an open-access journal, and authors are required to pay a publication fee upon acceptance of their manuscript. The publication fee covers the costs of editing, typesetting, and maintaining the journal’s online platform.
- The specific fee will be communicated to authors after the acceptance of the manuscript.
9. Copyright and Licensing
- Upon acceptance, authors will be asked to transfer copyright of their article to the journal. The journal operates under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license, which allows others to freely share, adapt, and build upon the work, as long as proper credit is given to the original authors.
